My history

Here you find about me, where I come from etc.

The very first photo of me.

I was born in Ballarat a large regional town in north west country Victoria in 1974 (you do the math). Not all that exciting so far is it? I was born with a hip condition called Congenital Hip Dislocation, which gave my parents a large amount of excitement they did not need. I spent the next twelve years in and out of plaster, braces and hospital. The end result was a healthy lass with a healthy disrespect of Sport and Physical Education in general, I have a groovy limp and still have trouble with one hip. Roll on Hip replacement!

A good site on C.D.H

On the floor of my parents house (the carpet is still the same) in August 1975. One of the many plaster casts but I was still a happy kid. Wearing my Dennis Brown Booties, a lovely brace with a boot on either end of an aluminium bar. It didn't stop the smiling! This is Michael, my younger brothers, favourite baby photo because I look so sullen. My mother did not do it much but here are a pair of matching Sesame Street outfits, made by her. Dress for me and overalls for Michael. The final chapter in the parade of plaster casts. I am six in this photo.

The house I grew up in my parents still live in, they built when they got married and it has grown as we did. I went to school down the road and generally had a ball doing stuff kids should. Climbing trees, riding bikes, falling on and off afore mentioned articles, building cubbies, swimming etc. Swimming was a big part of my life as it is with most Australian kids. My first dip was in a pool at six weeks old and I never looked back. I started formal lessons around five and continued until I became a fully qualified swim teacher at 18.

My Prep photo. First year of Primary school. I look like a little boy and was a Tomboy as the mud on the sleeve attests. My second bike with a very sexy helmet. This bike is still around at home. Michael and I spent much time at beaches, clambering of rocks, making sand castles. Is there not a more iconic picture of a childhood. This sums it up. In my element, lilo in hand. If you look closely at my right hip you can see some of my scars!

I went to an all girls Catholic High school even though I was not Catholic, the main reason was because my mother taught there. It was a good school, don't get me wrong but I shall never send my children to a school that I work in. My time at High School was pretty good with some horrendous down moments but I came out the end with my year 12 and ready to move on.

My Year Twelve school photo, final year of high school. I think I look like a monkey but you can still see the chubby Prep kid.

Michael and I at Michaels 21st Birthday.

I went to university for a short time but did not do well. I moved to the big smoke, Melbourne and have never looked back. I dropped out of University, continued to teach swimming and began to work in the Education Department as an integration aide. The rest of my life is covered in the other rooms as the attic can only hold so much crap.
